Der Kuseng: Hoamatlond, Hoamatlond
At the Austrian Cabaret Prize 2025, Kian Kaiser alias Der Kuseng received the award for emerging talent. In his political satire programme, the cabaret artist questions the concept of homeland and punctuates the evening with the regional anthems from Upper Austria, where he grew up, and the one from Vienna, where there actually isn't one. The autobiographically framed evening deals with, among other things, socialisation through television, youthful drinking binges and his own gender transition. Der Kuseng effortlessly switches from the deepest Upper Austrian dialect via Viennese to standard German; thematically he spans the arc all the way to life as a trans man. His testosterone therapy, however, fails to deliver results: 'I still don't want to harass women.'
