I'm Very Into You is the meeting point between the works of two Italian artists from different generations, Lydia Silvestri (Chiuro, 1929–2018) and Cecilia De Nisco (Parma, 1997). The exhibition borrows its title from the collection of emails exchanged in 1995 between American writer Kathy Acker and Australian writer McKenzie Wark and published in 2015 by Semiotext(e). The two barely knew each other, and their relationship lasted only a few weeks after the correspondence ended. In this dense exchange of emails sent within just two weeks from opposite ends of the world, Acker and Wark confide in each other, expose their vulnerability, bare themselves and make themselves known. In a word: they seduce each other with an intensity that only strangers can achieve. It is a seduction that performs a struggle for intimacy, which is at once a struggle with intimacy. Intimacy – and the question of how much we have of it and what we can make of it – stands at the centre of this conversation: Acker and Wark move in a limbus, undecided between desire and being desired, seducing and being seduced. Their roles constantly slip, 'going high low, power helpless even captive, male female, all over the place'; the body becomes written language, and desire transforms into a question of power and role-play: 'I know what you mean about slipping male/female I never know which one I am I used to get all worried about myself, I should make decisions, announce a name, and at some point I just gave up 'cause it's too difficult', writes Acker. Then, like an inevitable chemical reaction, the emotion precipitates and condenses into a simple, revealing sentence with which Acker ends one of her final exchanges: I'm very into you. An ambivalent declaration: on the one hand, it expresses a deep fee
