Hope
As part of Vienna Art Week 2026, the HGM presents the Austrian premiere of HOPE, a short film by Iranian filmmaker Maryam Kouhestani. Video performance: HOPE Iran, 2025, 13 min. Directed by: Maryam Kouhestani. The poetic work of artist Maryam Kouhestani is devoted to the struggle of Iranian women for freedom. They wage it without weapons, individually and in solidarity at once. The work reflects the idea that there is always space for hope as long as people strive to keep moving forward and to get back up after a fall. For the artist, it is the strength and persistence on this journey that embodies the essence of life. The film was made in the desert of Abuzeydabad near the city of Kashan in Iran. In Austria, it will have its premiere in 2026 as part of Vienna Art Week and at the Museum of Military History. Running from November 6 to 13, 2026, the installation in the Feldherrenhalle is freely accessible during museum opening hours. A valid museum ticket must be purchased to visit the exhibitions.
