Open Studio Fearless Tour 2026

Where does fear begin – and where does courage end? Where does courage begin – and where does fear end? Who takes it from them / him, who gives it to them / him? These questions relate not only to individual dilemmas, but are also increasingly becoming central sticking points in dealing with right-wing populist politics. Terms like 'community', 'care' and 'togetherness' take up much space in civil society debates. These are important and necessary terms to describe cohesion – but what is missing are the corresponding action spaces and tools that enable each individual not only to think about it, but also to allow appropriate action to follow from the resulting knowledge. Yes, we've known that for quite a while. And how do we act together now? This tour is also an attempt to implement these two questions concretely in an artistic environment – Who is afraid of what? What happens to artworks without their authorship? What question have I always wanted to ask? How many status points are lost when a vacation is taken instead of a residency? What counts as courageous in artistic creation? Using concrete examples, these questions will be played through together with all those involved on site. We try to approach (un)pleasant instructions with less fear and share our courage and our fears in the process. Perhaps artworks and objects in the respective studios will also be collected – and accepted and shared as 'found pieces' in the spirit of piracy. Are we all in the same boat or not? We ourselves become art pirates and cultural creators. Traces, references and conclusions become blurred. And in the end we visit this year's Vienna Art Week exhibition and then present ourselves alongside it – with or without a pinch* of performance. * The booty: Originally, sailors and pirates called the stolen or conquered goods on a ship a 'prise' (from the French
